Me First Beer..

After being sober for a period of 6 yrs, I had my self a beer, last Friday. Well.. it still tastes the same. He he.. hic hic. Ok ok.. I aint stoned now, nor was I stoned after the beer, and this is probably gonna sound crazy to most of you. Since blogs weren't around back in the day when I used to tempt my self with the gods so called nectar, I thought I'd just note it down here.

Sooo... it tastes shit. Not that I expected it to get all sweet and stuff during a period of 6 yrs, but I dunno, I somehow like it.

What made me cross the line? Well I have been on the fence for a few months now, and on that fateful Friday, I just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time and made the wrong(or right) decision. We(myself and a colleague of mine) were at a client location, stuck till 11pm.. yes wokring. After finishing up, since we hadn't had any propper dinner (the clients were nice enough to bring some grub from KFC), we were stranded with the notion of "where do we go next?". Coincidently since all this was happening in Nawam Mw. and all the noice at that time was comming from a spot that called them selves the "White Horse", we found our selves heading over there.

All in all just like the "Lion" advert goes, it found a hard working guy, ending the day near a water hole. So predictable yar?

So there u have it. My silly story. This year has seen alot of changes, I vaguely remember myself being "Vege", and now licking my fingers after eating Chicken. What else is instore for me? Maybe some Weed... or better yet.. Marraige! (I think I'll save those for the next year)

And for those who think this guy is crazy.. your probably right!

Increased Humanitarian Efforts by the LTTE

After the GoSL granted permission for Daya Master to incidently get himself checked up and an Angiogram done, to make sure the right amount of blood is being pumped through his heart, on Humanitarian Grounds of course, them tigers have decided to show their humble gratitude.

Await 12 LTTE ambassadors in Colombo! Unfortunately due to there shy nature, these 12 ambassadors do not want to be disclosed, as they believe that publicity of them would hinder their humanitarian work. Incidently all the ambassadors are of feminine breed. There you go Tiger Leader Prabha setting a perfect example of Genderr Equality, in a country that women folk seem to think otherwise.

All this information was gathered by another LTTE ambassador who'd been identified (much to the dismay of the LTTE) in Tissamaharama, on her mission to show gratitude to some influential political figure of the Govt. After being identified, our chaps have decided to have a chit chat and gather the above details. I hope our chaps treated her Humanely, without pushing or poking her. Coz the folks in Govt have to keep to the Geneva Convention eh?

As a sign of good will the Tiger Chappies have also decided to modify motorbikes to suit Sri Lankan roads, with extra ball bearings and plastic, just in case you might need it, when you accidently bump into a Vehicle, and coincidently some well known chappie is being driven in that same vehicle. 2 such bikes have been found by the SLA, and they will be running a full quality test on em, before granting SLS standards to the LTTE. The SLA were itching to get their hands on one these babies, since the first one happened to explode, and only parts of it were available.

In other news, the chappies in the Govt, have decided to ship most of the goods that go to Jaffna, thereby eliminating them Tigers of a proper living, no wonder they have nothing else to do but bare arms. After all they earn 60 lakhs a day, getting those who transport goods through the A9, to drop a penny in their tills. Hmm.. how discriminatory! Shame on you GoSL!

400 Million Lost over Ports strike !!

An estimated loss of 400 million was calculated y-day, as the employees of the Port continued their strike, calling for a pay hike. This mind you coming from guys who earn 30 grand a month on average.

Although it may sound like toffees, or spare change to some people, to me it's not. Coz I don't get paid that much.. atleast not yet.. (oops have I divulged sensitive information out?)

Anyways, it's interesting that the Privatized terminal of the Port is operating fine, without any glitches or work to rule.

So what is Work to Rule ? Google definition :

A practice where workers obey to the letter all laws and rules pertaining to their work, thereby effecting a slowdown. The practice also frequently involves a refusal to perform duties which, though related. are not explicitly included in the job description.

As I have been employed in the private sector, I can't see how working to rule can actually slow things down. I mean maybe I do a bit extra, than what was agree
ed upon my employment contract.. maybe coz our Employment Contracts are soo vague, and basically I just believe that the paperwork that comes with the work I do is actually part of it. Maybe some one can shed some light on this...

My personal policy is that, if I think I'm not getting paid, as much as I put in (not how much I'd like to get paid) well I'll talk it up with the Guy at the top, if nothing happens I'd start looking else where. But that's just me, my opinion, my life, I cant expect everyone to be me.

Maybe these blokes at the Port, want a bigger cut just like the big guns of the Port. But you cant be selfless, when you know that your action is affecting the whole Country and grinding the Port, which is considered the Gateway to South Asia to a HALT!

LOST - LOST IN GOVT LEVY

I found myself seated infront of the Tele y'day awaiting the much anticipated "LOST" on ART TV. Finally some one is showing the most popular (as everybody claims) TV Show in Sri Lanka. Counting out the Cable operators, (or operator now) as I am not financially equipped for such a luxury. Therefore have to rely on the local TV, and although people were complaining that there is nothing to watch, I must say the Local Scene was reaching a Hype, with Good Programs on all the Channels as opposed to only 1 channel. For eg: Monday night you'll be caught switching between Alias on Channel 1 MTV and LOST on ART TV. And for those people who don't fall asleep by 10pm, MTV has started showing re-runs of old movies, some weren't upto the mark but some were. I even caught a few that I had missed when they came out.

At this moment of time, the Govt. decides to implement a stupid levy, I know many bloggers have commented on this, and I watched the Joint Task Force's Live Press Conference, knowing that it's gonna affect me pretty soon. I was relieved that they showed "Dr. House" the same day, but no movie. So I was crossing my fingers 9.30pm on ART TV.. CNN news.. 9.35pm on ART TV.. CNN news.. 9.40pm on ART TV CNN news.. LOST had LOST the battle!

Flipping the channel at 10pm to MTV, there were showing Alias, with a Scroller at the bottom saying "We have paid Rs. 150000 Levy, to bring this to you" or something close to that. So obviously ART TV, doesn't find it financially viable to pay the Levy, understandable.

While I'm not gonna argue how hilarious the Levy is, coz I'm sure all of you know that, I'll have to resort to the DVD's of LOST, and many other programs (available almost in all the DVD Rental joints). I use to say thank god, only in Sri Lanka. Hmm....
