• There were 18,000 Web sites in August of 1995
• Web sites have become a way to bond and belong

I caught this story thanks to my G.F. So can you imagine what has made most of the difference between 1995 and 2006? Well us of course. Although I have not contributed in an actual addition of a domain name as such, being a part of the Blog community makes me proud. :)

I wonder who got this sad job of counting all the web pages in CNN :-)

I don't think it would be as boring as would imagine, just for the reason being that the internet and the no of sites is actually dominated by porn - Results 1 - 10 of about 124,000,000(besides us Bloggers).

Talking about domains. I checked availability for few domains. Shit, they all are taken! THis is becoming a big cash business for some people. They register names of popular events, companies, cities, etc and hold them as "hostages" to earn big money. TVLANKA.COM is one such "hostage" domain as per the MD of TV lanka.

Cyber squatting they call it.

Although CNN claims there list is mostly live domains, with actual content as opposed to the bogus stuff these squatters put on.

But I checked out tvlanka.com seemed pretty authentic to me.
